Chairperson

Pauline Dikeledi (Kelly) Shikwambana

Pauline Dikeledi (Kelly) Shikwambana serves in the capacity of Chairperson on the RDSP Board of Management. She is a seasoned Community Development Practitioner with extensive experience spanning over 30 years, working in the most marginalised communities. She continues to volunteer her time working in the St.Kizito OVC Programme doing home visits to families and Zanecebo HIV Support group in her local community in Gugulethu. She has also been volunteering her time serving her local parish in Gugulethu as Secretary since 2014. Kelly brings a wealth of community development expertise to the Board.

In her free time, you can find her relaxing at home with her family. During this time she is able to have catch up time with her 3 kids, 5 five grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Vice Chairperson

Gregory Berry

Gregory Berry serves in the capacity as Vice-chairperson on the RDSP Board of Management. He holds a Doctorate in Theology from Bible Faith Global University (USA), a Higher Certificate in Urban & Rural Development Theology from UNISA, is a certified Life Coach, a church Pastoral Overseer and volunteer Director of 2 continent wide non-profit organisations. Greg brings with him 30 years of experience in church, community, family and child & youth care work, developing Life Skill Programmes with specific methodologies across Africa. This is the expertise he brings to the RDSP Board since 2012.

In his free time, you can find him enjoying beach & mountain walks with his wife & children. He also dabbles with media – audio, visual & podcasts.

Treasurer

Kerry Söderlund

Kerry Söderlund serves in the capacity as Treasurer on the RDSP Board of Management. She holds a Bachelor of Accounting Science degree, with more than 19 years of experience in finance, operations and compliance management in the NPO sector. Kerry’s expertise of finance, governance, human resource and insights into community development practices in rural communities supports the fiduciary function of the Board and the work of RDSP. She has been serving on the Board since 2021.

In her free time, you can find her enjoying the outdoors, gardening and spending time with family.

Secretary- Staff Consultor

Rosanne Shields

Rosanne Shields serves in the capacity as Staff Liaison on the RDSP Board of Management. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in African Economic History and English from the University of Cape Town, with further studies in Development Administration at UNISA. She was one of the founder members of RDSP and worked for the organisation from 1992 to 2018 as Assistant Co-ordinator, then Director and later Development Director. She brings institutional memory and a sense of continuity to the Board and the work of RDSP. She has been serving on the Board since 2018.

In her free time, you can find her enjoying part of the year in Ireland with her family or helping to run the Southern Cross Magazine.

Additional Board Members

Bishop Sylvester David

Bishop Sylvester David currently sits on RDSP’s Board as Liaison Bishop. RDSP is an associate body of the SACBC (Southern African Catholic Bishops’ Conference) and a member of the Department for Catholic Social Action, one of the six main departments that fall under the SACBC (the others being Christian Formation, Laity, Clergy, Ecumenism & Interfaith Dialogue and Finance). The Department for Social Action includes all the Social Agencies of the SACBC, of which RDSP is one such agency. Each Social Agency is assigned a Liaison Bishop by the SACBC.

Tanya Arendse

Tanya Arendse serves in the capacity as Board Member on the RDSP Board of Management. She holds a Bcom Honours Degree in Industrial Psychology  from Mancosa, Post Grad Diploma in Advanced Labour Law from UNISA and Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management from University of Stellenbosch with more than 13 years of experience in Human Resource Management. She brings Human Resource, Training and Development, Employee Relations and Community Development expertise to the Board and the work of RDSP. She has been serving on the Board since 2021.

In her free time, you can find her enjoying quality time with family, exploring different restaurants, Netflix & Chill and ballroom dancing.

Sr. Connie O’Brien

Sr. Connie O’Brien [ISSM] has served as a board member of RDSP for several years. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work [University of Durban Westville]; Honours Degree in Psychiatric Social Work [University of Cape Town]; Masters in Research, Cum Laude [University of Witwatersrand]; Advanced Diploma n Postgraduate Research [University of Bradford, Peace Studies, UK] PhD in Community Development & Conflict Resolution [University of Bradford, UK]. She has experience as a community development worker for many years; was employed as a therapist at an alcoholic/drug treatment unit and was the Manager of Street Children’s Projects.  From 1992 until 2016 she has taught, developed and coordinated courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the Department of Social Development at the University of Cape Town and has supervised six doctoral candidates to a successful completion.

Presently retired from Academia her main focus at present is coordinating the activities of the Schoenstatt Movement in South Africa which includes family enrichment; youth leadership; women’s groups; spiritual guidance etc. As a Schoenstatt Sister of Mary, she draws her inspiration from the vision and mission of their founder, Fr.Joseph Kentenich.
